‘Jammies’ Now Available at Several ‘Big Name’ Retailers

Fargo Company Also Soon Adding ‘Honey SunButter’

Here’s something to add to your Walmart shopping list: SunButter® Jammies®.  The sunflower seed butter and jelly sandwiches are now available at Walmart stores across the nation.

Walmart is the latest big-name retailer to add the sandwiches to their inventory.  They’re also available at Kroger, Albertsons, Sprouts, Cashwise, Hornbachers, HyVee, Kroger, HEB, Meijer and Wegmans.

“Those are big stores,” affirms Jenny Padgitt, vice president of SunButter. “It’s fantastic because anyone in pretty much any major market in the country can get Jammies.  That’s really exciting.”

Jammies package       Jammies are available in strawberry and grape.  Each box contains four individually wrapped sandwiches. Launched two years ago, Jammies have some big names to compete against, including Smucker’s Uncrustables.

“Those are obviously super popular products; but at the same time, they’re not for everyone,” Padgitt explains. “There are many people with nut allergies, and so we are happy to be able to meet the needs of those people and offer a nut-free option.  We also have a lot of people who love our product, both Jammies and SunButter, because of the natural, clean label.

“SunButter is, in general, healthier than peanut butter,” Padgitt continues. “Jammies are a non-GMO product, there’s no high fructose corn syrup, no artificial preservatives or sweeteners — and Jammies use a whole grain bread. We’ve tried to make the whole product something for people who are looking for higher quality, cleaner ingredients.”

In fact, SunButter Jammies are free from peanuts, tree nuts, coconut, milk, eggs, fish and shellfish.

SunButter itself has been on the market for more than 20 years.  In 2002, Red River Commodities partnered with the USDA to create a peanut-free solution for people with allergies.  SunButter’s taste and health aspects quickly caught on, and demand has steadily grown among those with allergies and even people without. With one in 13 kids affected by food allergies, SunButter is the leading peanut-free, school-friendly spread served in schools across the U.S.

“It’s great if you have a nut allergy, and it’s also great if you don’t,” Padgitt says.  “We have a lot of customers who choose SunButter because they like the flavor and the healthy profile it offers.”

Honey SunButter jar        There are even more new products on the horizon, including Honey SunButter, which Padgitt says should be hitting store shelves this fall.  “We are really excited about this new product,” she says.  “We’ve partnered with Local Hive Honey, another U.S.-based company.  It’s a fantastic product.  It’s really got a nice note of sweetness and takes the products to a new level.”
