Sunflower Highlights
1/24/2011
PRICES MOVE HIGHER Cash and new crop sunflower prices at the crush plants gained another dollar today (Monday) closing at $26.55 cwt as prices continue to move sharply higher. New crop sunflower prices at the crush plants have gained 14 percent since the first of January 2011 and 24 percent since December 1, 2010. The price reaction is a combination of oil demand and competition for 2011 acres. New crop confection prices are at a premium to oils and are being quoted in the mid-30s. In addition there are hulling-type and high oleic contracts available with specific delivery, storage, and pricing options.
