CROP & WEATHER COMMENTS Good soil moisture and adequate heat units continue to aid crop development throughout the majority of the production region. The majority of the crop is in bloom in all states with a small percentage at petal drop. Banded moth numbers are declining according to trap counts (see NSA website for maps). Head moth field counts have been high in most of Kansas. Rust has generally not been an issue this season in the production region. Yield potential continues to be favorable although (plant) stands may not be adequate in those areas where the seed was ‘mudded in’ at planting.
