CROP & WEATHER COMMENTS Soil moisture conditions continue to be good to excellent in the majority of the production region from Manitoba to Texas. Last year the major crop concern was the lack of heat units necessary to mature the crop. As of this date, central ND is about 13 days ahead of last year’s number of average growing degree days and about on average with the 5 year and long time averages. Blooming progress is rated by USDA as 22% in ND, 14% in SD and 34% in KS. The rating of good to excellent increased for 2 states and decreased in 3 states.
