CROP & WEATHER COMMENTS Temperatures in the first 20 days of September have been well above average throughout the northern growing region. In fact the growing degree day accumulation for a central North Dakota location was greater from September 1-20 than it was in comparable time frames in both July and August. The above normal temperatures have greatly aided in maturity of the sunflower crop in the northern region. Temperatures for the next five days are forecast to be slightly above normal as well.
