SUNFLOWER RATINGS Source: USDA Weekly Crop Weather, as of 9/6/09 The USDA ratings declined slightly for North Dakota and South Dakota but increased slightly in Minnesota when compared to the week before. Ratings in other states were only slightly changed from last week.

CROP & WEATHER COMMENTS The sunflower crop in the northern region got a maturity boost in the week ending September 7. Temperatures were well above normal in many prime production locations. The crop continues to need more time as the table below indicates. Sunflower plants after petal drop are quite tolerant to a freeze below 30 degrees.
