CROP & WEATHER COMMENTS
The sunflower crop continues to improve with generally good stands. The SD ratings improved over last week while the others were mostly unchanged. Soil moisture is good in most areas. Temperatures continue to be below average in the northern region leading to maturity concerns. ND, SD and MN average temperatures were from 2 to 10 degrees below normal. According to NDAWN, a weather source for ND locations, growing degree days for sunflower are slightly behind last year’s pace but about five days behind the five year average.
