CROP COMMENTS Temperatures have warmed up in the northern states but combined heat units remain behind the average in most areas. Above average temperatures are forecast for the remainder of this week. Adequate soil moisture is the rule in the vast majority of the national sunflower production area. Production problems identified to date include cutworms and the early reproduction stages of rust on wild and volunteer sunflower. Read the News article about a description of this early rust stage and what it might mean for commercial production later in the season.
